Meals on Wheels of Chester County, Inc. (MOWCC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve a well-balanced, nutritious meal five days a week to homebound residents regardless of age or economic status.
A hot lunch is delivered by a caring volunteer between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our balanced, nutritious meals provide one-third of the required daily allowance (RDA) of nutrients each day. All meals are low in sodium, fat, and concentrated sugar, and are calorie-controlled.
Our services are available on an ongoing or temporary basis, regardless of age or economic status. Special diets, including no pork, no fish and texture-modified options, are available in most chapters.

Food and nutrition play a crucial role in health promotion and chronic disease prevention. Every 5 years, HHS and USDA publish the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the Nation’s go-to source for nutrition advice.
The latest edition of the Dietary Guidelines reflects the current body of nutrition science, helps health professionals and policymakers guide Americans to make healthy food and beverage choices, and serves as the science-based foundation for vital nutrition policies and programs across the United States.
A healthy meal includes 3 oz of protein, fruit, a variety of vegetables, calcium, whole grains and between 600-750 calories per meal.

When a client unexpectedly doesn’t answer the door, reports a concern, or just doesn’t seem like themselves, Meals on Wheels of Chester County acts swiftly to alert family members or the client’s emergency contact. In emergencies, 911 is called and the volunteer stays with the client until help arrives.
MOWCC also helps seniors:
Nearly one in six seniors in America faces the threat of hunger or malnourishment (around 8 million total).

Meals on Wheels of Chester County succeeds because of our volunteers. Close to 600 volunteers generously give their time and energy to serve their neighbors in need. They deliver much more than just a meal - They deliver a warm greeting, a friendly smile and peace of mind to the families of our clients. Why not join them?
Shelf-stable nutritious food is delivered in late fall and early winter to protect clients against missed deliveries during weather emergencies.
The emergency meals contain items that can be stored outside a refrigerator and may be eaten as is or add water to create the meal (such as soup).
